Des Moines also makes Forbes' list for Per Capita Income and Average Annual Pay. And Kiplinger calls Iowa City the 10th Smartest Place to Live, one that's "bursting with creative and intellectual energy."

A 2007 report stated that Iowa's booming IT and Web development industries were all vastly understaffed, meaning that companies may offer double or triple the average salary in order to lure employees. All this means that getting design career training in Iowa can pay off in many ways.
