The rugged state of Wyoming is located in northwestern United States. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, it had a population of 544,270 in 2009. Wyoming has graphic design schools in some of its major cities including Casper, Laramie, Rock Springs, and the capital of Cheyenne. Major industries include mining, agriculture, and tourism. Residents and visitors can enjoy the beautiful mountain ranges and foothills and participate in many outdoor sports year round. The Equality State is also home to Yellowstone National Park.
Graphic Design Careers in Wyoming
Graphic design schools in Wyoming offer a wide range of on-campus and online courses. Students can combine classroom courses with Internet study, incorporating classes such as principles of design, desktop publishing, multimedia and animation, three dimensional design, typography, web design, and digital photography. Students who wish to extend their training beyond the bachelor's degree in graphic design may choose to complete a graduate degree, such as a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) the median annual salary for graphic designers was $42,200 in 2008. During the same period, graphic designers who owned or had partnership in a company earned up to $95,000. The BLS predicts that by 2018, jobs in the field of graphic design will have increased by 13 percent with careers such as design for interactive media, Internet and mobile phones, advertising, and marketing dominating the field.
