Fixing a Pagemaker / Adobe Acrobat Bug - Distiller is the software that takes the .ps file (PostScript format) generated by PageMaker and converts it to PDF format. Sometimes, Distiller refuses to do the conversion, and provides clearly-worded error messages that help me pin down the problem almost immediately:
Global Recomposition in Pagemaker - No computer software is perfect and occasionally your data files get corrupted either by the operating system or by the application software that you use to create and maintain the file. Files created with Pagemaker are no exception, the difference is that Pagemaker contains a facility within the program itself that can fix many of the corruptions to your Pagemaker files.
Make Pages and Trouble Shooting "Type 11" Errors - A "Type 11" error is defined as a "miscellaneous hardware exception," leading many people to think it is always a hardware problem.
Pagemaker 7 File Damaged - Is it possible to repair a damaged Mac PageMaker 7.0 file? It will open, and I can re-save it to a new name, but then it crashes.
Postscript Errors Listings - This isn't specifically for Adobe Pagemaker but can be created in any graphics program, so use this list as a reference if you receive a postscript error in Pagemaker.
Recovering Corrupt Pagemaker Files - It's handy to know that Pagemaker has a facility to rescue a corrupt publication. Unlike many programs Pagemaker doesn't make a backup of the working file when you save, so if the unthinkable happens and the job you have worked on for months won't open the morning after your client has approved it, you have a serious problem.
