Scalable Vector Graphics: The Art is in the Code - One of the most exciting developing technologies is Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG). SVG is exciting because it offers Web developers a method to create and animate images through an XML programming language.
SVG Scalable Vector Graphics - One of the most exciting technologies to appear in recent years is SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics). In developing for the Web, we've become used to JPEG and GIF files and Flash animations. Dynamic HTML has also been used for animation and achieving a high degree of interactivity. However, SVG has the potential to surpass these formats and create a whole new style of graphics and dynamic page generation. This potential is due to several factors:
SWF Is Not Flash (and Other Vectored Thoughts) - Vector graphics, once the sole domain of desktop publishing types, is now becoming increasingly more popular with Web designers and developers. They use vectors to pack their graphics and animations into small chunks of data using the famous Macromedia Flash authoring application. Combined with a bit of sound and creative coding, the popular "Flash movies" or "SWFs" have become the most widely used format for delivery of rich media.r.
SVG and Flash as the same species - We can name several technologies for displaying 2D interactive vector graphics on the web however, two names rises among other contenders. These are the Macromedia’s Shock Wave Flash (SWF) and the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG). Unlike Flash SVG is not for sale.
The Creative Toolbox: Open-Standard Upstart SVG Takes on Macromedia's SWF - The SVG vector-based file format means more freedom for designers and a faster Web for everyone. Now is the time to learn more.

Scalable Vector Graphics Color Names - This page shows the 147 color names defined by the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) Specification and swatches of colors that are defined using those names. These colors are sorted by their color name. This is just one of the ways you can define colors in HTML attributes and in Cascading Style Sheets; you can use a quick reference table to help you choose from among the many color tables available.
Using Animation PNG Files - Most of the images I want to display on my website are vector based. I'm currently using JPG/GIF files, but what woukd be the best format for future use? I've considered Flash and PDF but I don't like the idesa of people having to download proprietary software to see my images. I know that W3C has established a standard for vectors but what do you think would be the most likely browser standard for showing graphics in the near future?
What is SVG? - SVG (or Scalable Vector Graphics), is based on XML and has been over 2-years in development by the W3C. It's supposed to allow users to see Web graphics faster, scalable and (even cooler) makes these graphics searchable. SVG can contain both raster and vector graphics - viewable as either a standalone document type, or embedded inside HTML or XML documents (using the <embed> tag). Pretty neat so far huh?
What is Vector Graphics ActiveX - Vector Graphics ActiveX is the professional graphics solution for creating business and technical drawings and the most powerful for today. It provides over 1000 methods, properties and events and is fully object oriented. Developers get full control of all objects at run time and can process graphic documents, analyze and visualize any kind of the real processes, create interactive GIS-systems and CAD-systems.
Working with SVG in Adobe Illustrator - You can save artwork in SVG format using the Save command and the Save for Web command. (See Saving artwork in an SVG format and Optimizing images.) How you set up your artwork in Illustrator will impact the resulting SVG file. Keep in mind the following guidelines:
