Post Web Comp Critique
Hey Guys,

I would love to get your opinions on this new site I am designing. In speaking with the doctors they really wanted to appeal to the parents of the children they would be seeing, meaning they wanted it more classy than fun. They also wanted to design the site around the woods if possible, since both of their offices are in the woods. The reddish color came from the paint color in one of their offices. I look forward to hearing what you have to say!

EDIT: That is not their logo. It is only a placeholder.

Hey Ronin,

They are kind of known by the kids and their families as the dentists in the forest. Their whole office is based around that with these HUGE windows looking out to the trees. They really wanted to incorporate that into the design.

i like the look, but the "flash" part is what will really make it look like a dentistry website or not.

Thanks VDesign, I totally agree. The flash is going to be crucial. In that will lie the typical dental smiling faces and text.

My post went missing.

I like the layout alot. I also think it is a great site but....

I do not think this color palette will appeal to adults with children. I really don't. Don't forget that the forest can be a brighter green with blue sky. Don't forget about forests in Autumn with bright and cheery oranges, yellows and reds. I would seriosuly rethink it unless your client specifically wants a mature look. Even with a flash of smiling kids won't brighten this palette up, IMO. Just some food for thought.

have to agree. about making the site look like a forest, even though they are known as the dentists in the forest im not sure that's what would be best. i mean the site is going to be used for promotion right? so people who don't already know them. i'd prefer something more clean and professional if i was a potential patient, but as always the client is always right.

I don't have a design critique right now, but just make sure you spell HIPAA regulations properly. Spelling errors jump out at me, what can I say :)

Hey Guys,

Here is another option with a lighter color palette. Is this more along the lines of what you had in mind? The main thing I am trying to stay away from is making the design look cartoony, is that a word? Let me know what you think!

This is an improvement WC. I think the forest green has to go, at lest the strip along the bottom, but that is my 2 cents. It's the client you have to please.

I dunno woodburn, it feels very cookie cutter to me. Aged is another word that comes to mind. The flash is either going to make or break the look of the site, so it's going to have to be amazing, and it'll be difficult to pull off in the forest green. Not many shades of green are very web friendly.
