Can anyone help me getting my website http://www.pickatutorial.com listed with DMOZ (The Open Directory). I have been trying for the months but to no avail..................
I'm sure it must be either the category in which you have placed the web site or the description of your web site that's causing the problem.
DMOZ usually takes much less time to add a web site into the directory.

it is really hard to get into the DMOZ, and honestly, in the end it isn't as important as people make it out to be.

Is DMOZ still important?
I was recently surveying opinion about whether DMOZ is as big as it used to be. Is DMOZ still important? I'm curious about what a wider group think about it. I keep encountering lots of people who don't seem to have any awareness of it.
DMOZ isn't really a big deal anymore. At one time it was a good way to help your pagerank and bring in directory traffic but that is no longer the case. Google no longer gives DMOZ any extra weight for the purpose of pagerank and it is used much less in general by people looking for sites.
It takes forever to get listed on DMOZ. I recommend to submit and if it is not approved... try to resubmit every 4-6 month. Don't even think to spam DMOZ because they can punish for this.

Re: Getting into DMOZ
Getting into DMOZ is nearly impossible, but if you have luck you can get in in less than a year, but without luck your site will be rejected without being reviewed. Believe me, the editors are very corrupt, I tried to get into DMOZ with 2 quality websites and they were rejected (they weren't added after a half year) and they didn't even send me an e-mail.
I have seen that many of their editors offer "get into DMOZ quickly" services on different forums for serious money and many webmaster are really paying a lot for getting into. It is not fair because the site is supposed to be free, but its fame killed it.
I wouldn't suggest you to pay money to get in, rather submit your website to other big directories or pay a SEO agent to optimize your website, it will help you more.
